Project: Brindleyplace, Birmingham Type: Offices & Apartments Contractor: HBG Contractors Limited Lintels: Stainless Steel Brickwork Support Systems (125 year minimum life-span)

A particularly coplex project was undertaken at Brindleyplace, Birmingham for a 92,000 sq. ft. office building with 35 luxurious serviced apartments on the upper floors. HBG Contractors Ltd (main contractors for the project) designed the building with a reinforced concrete frame, separate internal leaf and external cladding. It was therefore essential that the lintel supports would be independent of the internal leaf and not disturb the cavity fill.

Keystone’s solution was to start with the steel itself and arrange for it’s supplier to produce a custom made rolling of superior grade stainless steel. Keystone then designed a special lintel with a unique fixing structure to bridge the cavity. Keystone supplied technical assistance on-site as the lintels were installed. In total over 300 special lintels were supplied, each with a guarantee 125 year lifespan.
