In an age of uncertainty, business partnerships and forging the right relationships are crucial to the construction industry. We spoke to Chris Burton, Commercial Director for Bloor Homes, about what makes an ideal business partner…
Bloor Homes is the largest private housebuilder in England and has been trading for over 35 years. Currently, Bloor Homes build approximately 2,500 units a year and will be increasing this next year. Bloor Homes build quality homes of distinction with innovative and imaginative layouts that perfectly suit modern lifestyles.
What is your relationship with the Keystone Group?
Bloor Homes have a very strong relationship with Keystone and have been dealing with them ever since they launched in England. Strong relationships between suppliers and housebuilders are very important. We try and keep relationships as strong and as personable as possible.
What can manufacturers do to assist National housebuilders?
A strong relationship with all departments within manufacturing and find this beneficial in terms of ordering, technical advice and aftersales. For example, with the technical team we can send in plans and get full, structured take-offs and schedules of what is required for the build.
Do you work via Builders Merchants?
Yes, builders merchants are very important to Bloor Homes. We buy all our Keystone building products through Brown’s Builders Merchants in Derby.
What can builders merchants do to assist?
Commercially at Bloor Homes we don’t have dedicated Buyers, only a team of quantity surveyors, the builders merchants effectively acts like a middleman to take pressure off both site and office staff, which is excellent for a busy housebuilder like Bloor Homes.
