Portsmouth & District Lawn Tennis Association required the building to be functional ahead of the upcoming Wimbledon tennis pre-qualifiers. Charter Global needed to integrate their shutter system in line with the project build schedule and required a lintel supplier to meet critical deadlines.

Charter Global contacted Keystone Lintels for an innovative roller shutter lintel design for their ‘Integr8 shutter system’ concealed within the fabric of the building. Keystone’s technical team worked closely with Charter Global to develop sixteen unique roller shutter lintels for the brick base ground floor which acts as a plinth to the delicate glassy first floor.

The lintel design incorporated the small role zones of the perforated lath shutter. The perforated lath allows for privacy when the shutters are lowered, without affecting the natural light to enter spaces. The roller shutter lintels were supplied and installed with removable guides and flexible posts. The unobtrusive design helps to create open space for visitors when the shutters are raised.

The Keystone roller shutter lintel addresses the standard areas of lintel design, such as load-bearings, damp proofing, and thermal bridging. All the roller shutter lintels are supplied with a fully insulated box and removable panel to allow access to the roller shutter for maintenance. Custom made designs such as those for curved and arched windows are also available.
