Installation of Keystone T/K, HDT/K and XHDT/K lintels is similar. All timber frame lintels must be installed with restraining clips and a timber pinch batten to prevent rotation of the lintel during the building stage. Propping may also be used to facilitate speed of construction.
To achieve the loading figures shown, T/K lintels must be secured with restraining clips, with a timber pinch batten (not supplied) used to prevent lateral deflection (rotation) during the building stage. A single 300mm-long timber pinch batten positioned at mid-span will be sufficient.
Keystone timber frame restraint clips are supplied free of charge and must be fixed to the timber frame structure using 3.3mm x 50mm galvanised nails. Allowance should be made for movement of the timber frame structure due to settlement and shrinkage. Lateral restraint clips should be positioned at 500mm centres each side of mid-span.
