Keystone continues to provide the largest range of lintels available, with the shortest lead times through a national network of merchant suppliers.

The redevelopment project, Novem, is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac and in walking distance of the shores of Poole Harbour. Towncourt Homes divided the existing plot, and in partnership with Trinity Architecture designed two contemporary five-bedroom detached homes set in beautifully landscaped private grounds. Keystones high quality and durable standard lintels were used throughout the project.

Challenge

The homes are orientated to optimise the views over Parkstone Golf Club, and a feeling of space and light is created intelligently through the use of double and triple height ceiling voids, roof lights, high ceilings and over-sized doors. Keystone’s standard lintels were chosen due to their thermal properties, life span and structural performance to support the architectural design features.

Solution

Keystones reliable comprehensive technical support and fast turnaround free scheduling specification service ensured the correct lintels were made available onsite via Sydenham’s. Manufactured from high quality grade pre galvanised mild steel, single leaf BOX/K 100, BOX/K 75 and SK-90 lintels were used accommodating lengths and masonry loads to achieve the architectural vision.

The elevations of both properties are arranged to visually break up massing by the stepping up in scale from the left to the right when viewing the front elevations. The off-white render, TBS Portland Blue facing brickwork, timber horizontal boarding and aluminium power coated windows, roof and fascia helped to adjust the building mass and ensured the homes provided a positive contribution to the street ‘sylvan in character’.
